Language and Existence

How can one even begin to grasp the true essence of Wittgenstein's words: "The limits of my language mean the limits of my world"? Here I am, amidst these silent witnesses of thought and ink, each volume a testament to the endless quest for understanding. Yet, as I stand here, I can't help but feel the weight of those very words pressing upon me, defining and confining my existence. Imagine this room as a labyrinth of language, its walls sculpted from every book I’ve ever read, every word I’ve ever spoken. Each turn, each passage within this maze is delineated by the constraints of my own expression. It’s as though my entire world is mapped out by the words I use to navigate it.  I find myself caught in a delicate dance with these walls, pushing against them, seeking to transcend their limits, only to realize that my every attempt is bound by the very language I rely on. Every insight I gain, every emotion I experience, seems to echo within this space, a reflection of...

Sometimes

Sometimes... words fall short of explanation and are deemed worthless. Sometimes... It's not with anyone telling us things, nor with anyone interpreting things for us, but it's with anyone not making words at all... Sometimes... mumbles, are enough to fill your head, these un-worded sounds are enough to exhume the deepness of your thoughts with an inexplicable silence that commands everything else. Sometimes... We are at the brink of believing that this is the hitch in the universe's breath. When the universe itself pauses to listen; When the universe takes you out of yourself. Sometimes... It is that same silence which takes you out of your smallness, takes you and gathers you with it - No concept of causality around... It is the silence that moves us... it is the silence which stills.

What If the Universe Is Just a Giant Thought Waiting to Forget Itself?

What if the universe is just one giant thought — like that embarrassing moment you had years ago that suddenly crashes back into your mind at 3 AM, uninvited and vivid, leaving you desperate to forget? It’s a cosmic thought, sprawling yet fragile, teetering on the edge of memory and oblivion. Maybe existence itself is a fleeting spark in a mind so vast, overwhelmed by the sheer weight of its own reflection. The stars, those ancient witnesses, might just be neurons firing in an endless dream, a pattern trying to make sense of its own chaos. Black holes? Not devouring matter but swallowing meaning — the universe’s own way of erasing parts of itself it can’t bear to face. We think we live in a place of permanence, but what if permanence is just the illusion of a thought clinging to its last thread? Time stretches like a fading echo, and reality flickers like a candle in a drafty room, trying to hold on to a story that’s slipping away. In this vast forgetfulness, we’re both the unive...

The Order Beneath the Noise

I walked home along a path I’ve memorized only through muscle and mistake. The trees—tall, quiet—didn’t whisper anything new, but they didn’t need to. Tonight felt unlike the others. The moon, usually indifferent, decided to throw a bone—some light. Enough to make out the green of coffee trees, the gleam of beany fruit, the patch of rusted metal meant to warn off snakes or trap them—hard to tell these days. I could see. That’s all. And in seeing, I began to unravel. Light—what a manipulative bastard. It offers clarity, but only under certain terms. Moonlight, in particular, is truth wrapped in a blue lie. Colors bend. Shadows pretend. And somehow, things feel more honest when half-concealed. Like people. They say it's all just photons—weightless things bouncing off matter. Physics wants us to believe it’s all random, probabilistic. That comfort of uncertainty. The Heisenberg lullaby. But I’ve never trusted comfort that comes too easily. How random is randomness, really? There a...

Story of Philosophy (As how I understand it)

Most people hate philosophy. Not because it’s boring—but because of how it was shoved down their throats in school. You sit there, sixteen years old, half-asleep under flickering fluorescent lights, while someone drones on about metaphysics like it’s tax code for the soul. They toss around names like Descartes and Nietzsche like everyone grew up debating epistemology at the dinner table. And when you ask a question? They hand you more terms. More “frameworks.” More essays with footnotes. No wonder everyone bails on the first week. But here’s the thing no one tells you: philosophy isn’t dead words in old books. It’s the voice in your head at 2 a.m. asking, “What’s the point of all this?” It’s the moment you stare at your ceiling and realize you’re just a meat skeleton with WiFi, flailing through an uncaring cosmos. It’s real —more real than half the crap we learn for standardized tests. Philosophy isn’t about finding answers. It’s about learning how to sit with the questions withou...

The Intricacies of Overthinking

I find myself caught in a web of overthinking, a habit that seems ingrained in my logical mind. Perhaps there's really nothing to worry about, just a phantom of paranoia that I've conjured up in my head. It's a maddening cycle, where simple truths get tangled in complex thoughts. But isn't the essence of philosophy—the love of wisdom—to distill the complex into something simple? I can't help but recall *The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy* and Deep Thought's cryptic answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything: “Life is paradoxically coincidental to the ironical tyranny applicable to the unparalleled definition of reverse entropy.” I've spent years trying to unpack that phrase, memorizing it, turning it over in my mind as if the key to understanding the cosmos lay hidden within its twisted logic. But what does it really mean? Life, in all its chaotic and spontaneous nature, seems to mock our attempts to impose order and definiti...

Walking

The reverie of walking – that state where one becomes preoccupied in thinking, an art of fleeing from reality towards a fantasy world created to escape the tragedies of this world. I admit that I cannot escape the harshness and stressful conditions of this reality, and that is the very reason why I choose to cling to this 5 minute walk to the 6th floor -  to this ‘fantasy’ world I created-  Sadly,  the finitude of the stairs makes me wish na sana, nasa 158th floor na lang yung classroom…  It’s in walking that I am lost in my thoughts and in my thought comes realization. A dangerous thing to some but through my realizations, I am able to contemplate and know why things ARE (as well as why things ARE NOT).  This catastrophic spectacle of life happens when I think I am quite certain of something but then I suddenly realize that the 'thing' I thought I already know is slowly escaping my grasp (which most of the time, would leave me hating my stupi...
