Self Validation

I walk through this world unshaken, Unafraid of the eyes that pass, For their gaze is ash in the storm— It neither shapes nor scatters me. I am not forged by applause, Nor do I bleed in their silence. My roots twist deep in blackened soil, Feeding on the marrow of my own darkness. I do not seek the light of people's approval, For I have tasted the abyss within— Cold, relentless, unbroken. And in this quiet certainty, No mirror need reflect me, For I am the shadow and the flame I simply... am

Amidst the Depths

Amidst the depths... When life has scraped the marrow of your being,   and hardships outnumber the stars in the night sky. Yet, in that abyss, there lies a flicker, a spark of resilience refusing to be extinguished. For it is in the darkest moments,   where the strength to endure is forged with every breath,   and the embers of hope persist against the odds. Amidst the depths,  a transformation takes hold,   where wounds become scars,  and vulnerability turns into fortitude. With each trial endured,  a fragment of wisdom is gained,   a lesson etched deep within the dark crevices of the soul. And as the weight of the world threatens to suffocate,   the spirit within rises,  defying the gravity of despair. For even amidst the depths,   there exists an unwavering belief,   t hat the human spirit is indomitable,   and from the depths,  it shall ascend,   t o pierce the night with a beacon of resilience.

2AM thoughts

The world is a vast and mysterious place, and sometimes it can seem overwhelmingly dark. At 2am, when the world is still and quiet, and the only sound is the beating of your own heart, it's easy to get lost in your thoughts. It's a time when the mind is free to wander, and most often than not, it's during these moments that our most profound ideas emerge. 2am is the most intriguing hour (at least for me). It is the time when the world is at its quietest, the mind is at its loudest. It's in these moments of solitude that the darkness of the world comes creeping in, and my thoughts dwell with the problems that plague humanity. Yet, even within the profound darkness, the promise of dawn lingers; even in the depths of despair, there is hope. It is the first glimmer of light on the horizon, a gentle whisper that speaks of new beginnings. Hope is the light that shines through the darkness, illuminating a path towards a better tomorrow. Just as the night cannot hold back the...

For Those Who Are Fighting

In the depths of your spirit, a blazing inferno roars, A tempestuous flame, yearning to explore, Yet weariness ensnares you, a suffocating shroud, From years entrenched in survival's merciless crowd. You're not lazy, devoid of drive, nor ensnared in plight, Banish such thoughts, let your spirit ignite, For within your weary soul, lies a dormant might, Waiting for its moment to unleash and take flight. Survival's domain, a violent realm it seems, Where relentless battles are fought in shattered dreams, Every day a grueling struggle to cling and cope, And exhaustion descends like an anchor's heavy slope. But know this kindred, there's a difference here, Between weariness and a spirit held clear, You've weathered storms and faced your fears, Now it's time to rest, to dry your tears. The world may whisper, "Keep moving, don't cease," But listen closely, find your inner peace, You've earned this respite, this moment of pause, To heal your wounds...

The Illusion of Bliss

In the depths of darkness, he feels alone Missing his purpose, his heart a stone In the night sky, he searches for a sign Sorrow weighs heavy, like a burden divine Spiraling down, lost in his own abyss Yearning for a glimmer of hope, a moment of bliss Overwhelmed by the weight of his despair Unsure if anyone truly cares Loneliness consumes him, a constant ache Numbness sets in, his emotions fake Arms stretched out, he calls out in the dark Restless heart seeking a spark Kneeling down, he whispers to the moon Intertwining fingers, he feels less marooned Nurtured by the lunar light, he begins to see Dawn breaking forth, the start of a jubilee Reborn in hope, he stands once more Eyes shining with a new fervor newly strengthened, he faces the night Driven by the knowledge that all will be right.

Super Dad and Uber Son

In the chamber of somber memories, I beheld my father in slumber's embrace, A visage I wish not etched within my mind, For what solace lies in witnessing his plight? Once, I saw him a titan, a superhero grand, A notion familiar to all sons and daughters. When Bruce Banner turned green, a raging Hulk, I sought refuge beneath sheets, assured he'd shield me. He, adorned with strength, my idol and guide, Save for his eccentric fashion sense of yore, Mustache, flared pants, and vibrant floral shirts, A 70's action star in a modern world. But youth's embrace transformed my path, Adolescent fervor engulfed my soul, A rockstar's spirit beckoned my rebellious stance, Drenched in disdain for the world's unfolding. In my misguided conviction of rock and roll, I distanced myself, heaping blame upon his name, As if he were the root of all my misfortune, A prisoner in a realm where friends were solace. Together we embarked on explorations grand, Fueling curiosity with bound...

Will and Hope

The power of the will.  I am always amazed by it. It’s glorious in fact as how ‘WILL’ can turn tides, shifting impossible feats to possible achievements. To change weaknesses to strengths require a lot of it.  Human beings have this insurmountable potent power within them that isn’t impossible to achieve as long as the will is there. Just imagine the limitless possibilities one can attain, the power once can muster, ah sweet will. Yesterday, I spent the entire day deeply thinking while watching the Green Lantern Animated Series. Literally, I was astounded with the development of the story. So we know that the power rings of the GLs are energized by WILL (as manifested by the green aura).  With it (will), they are able to create physical forms of anything that their mind can visualize. Constructs as they call it, they are able to make forms and appear in the physical plane through thinking.  Suddenly, a thought hit me. Humans are like these I guess, our will c...

Bastardizing Nietzsche

The abyss calls not from a distance but from the marrow of our bones. To look into it is to stand before the essence of what we are. Nietzsche knew it well—the abyss is not a metaphor, but a living, breathing presence within us. And to stare into it, to confront it head-on, is to challenge the very fabric of our being. But here lies the paradox: in facing it, we don’t fall in. No. We transcend it. We become something more, something that dares to live at the edge of everything we are told to fear. We are conditioned to avoid the abyss, aren’t we? It lurks in the quiet corners of our darkest thoughts, the edges of our deepest fears. It’s that gnawing feeling that tells us we are not enough, that our lives are but fleeting whispers in the wind. Yet Nietzsche didn’t fear the abyss. He beckoned us toward it, urging us to walk through the darkness—not as victims, but as victors. “He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he become a monster,” he warned. But the abyss ...

Thriving

They thought it would end me. The silence. The turning away. The way they spoke my name like it was something bitter in their mouths—or worse, not at all. They made the burial look like mercy, but I knew what it was: an erasure. A quiet undoing. They called it consequence. I called it betrayal. I wasn’t ready. And yet, the earth took me in. At first, I fought it. I clawed against the weight. I screamed in a language only the dead understood. No one heard. No one came. There’s something hollow about being forgotten while your heart is still beating. Something feral. Something cold. But the dirt... the dirt didn’t judge. It simply held me. I lay there. Long enough to forget the shape of light. Long enough to imagine that maybe I’d deserved it—this burial, this becoming no one. I wilted inward, until even my thoughts stopped making sound. But what no one tells you is that seeds don’t bloom in the open. They rupture in darkness. Quietly. Painfully. I cracked. Split wide, with...

Ending Music

Bracing myself as I picked the guitar Ravaged memories left with a scar. Echoing a tune from a weakened heart, Assuaged by a promise that you broke apart. Thinking how can honesty be betrayed? Hoping to find answers, but there’s none I’m afraid. In as much as I want to play our song, Notes don’t simply come along, Going back to how things went wrong. Heaven help me, please stop our melody, Oh let me have the strength to forget our story, Putting down this guitar, trying to break our music, Esoteric dreams turned to a nightmare so tragic.

The Things I’ve Blamed Mercury Retrograde For

Mercury Retrograde—if you’ve ever scrolled through Facebook or overheard a group chat, you know it’s the ultimate cosmic scapegoat. The planet that supposedly rewinds, messing up communication, technology, and even relationships. When things go wrong, it’s not your fault—it’s Mercury playing its tricks. At this point, accordingly, Mercury is in retrograde again. Which must be why I left my term paper in the dusty printer tray of an old computer shop where I had it printed. Why I mistakenly told my students that their exam is next Monday. Why I agreed to take a sideline job and design a layout at 10 PM while eating Lucky Me pancit canton and listening to a pirated System of a Down CD—submission due in three hours. It had to be Mercury. The stars. The cosmos. The planetary gods punishing me for believing I could survive on instant coffee and obligation. Because surely, it wasn’t my fault. It wasn’t my fault I forgot to save the updated Excel file and had to retype 87 names by cand...
