Once
more, the battle commences…
This
is my eternal struggle with my bed,
or
rather, with sleep itself.
All
I am yearning and hoping for right now is having the ability to slide into a
peaceful slumber. It should be a simple task (This is supposed to be simple!)
Reclining
my self on a chair, slouching, resting and closing my weary eyes. Simple right?
NO!
It
is in this moment, when I enter the realm of taming my racing thoughts is where
the true challenge lies. This is the time that my mind becomes active.
The
memories of our shared nights resurface, and I find myself relating all too
well to the notion of the "hair monster." You know, that feeling of
being smothered by a fluffy creature, waking up to find strands of hair strewn
across your face like wayward tendrils of affection.
It
was just last night, after we indulged in a few drinks, that she retired to
bed. I watched as she succumbed to the whimsical artistry of the "sloppy
drunk" style of sleeping. As for me, I sought solace in the embrace of the
rocking chair, where I managed to steal a fleeting moment of rest.
But
enough about specific instances and positions. Each one of us has our own
unique experiences when it comes to sleeping. I don't wish to intrude upon your
thoughts, urging you to recall which sleeping style brings you the greatest
comfort. No, that is a personal journey best embarked upon in the stillness of
night, free from distractions.
However,
I can't help but ponder a curious omission from the picture of sleeping
positions. They neglected to include one vital posture, one that resonates
deeply within me: "Two Worlds Apart." It's the undeniable reality of
a divide that separates two souls in the realm of sleep, no matter how close
they may be in waking life. It is a poignant reminder of the intricate dance
between connection and distance that weaves its way through our dreams.
And
so, as I navigate the labyrinth of my
restless nights, I am left with these musings, these introspective reflections
on the elusiveness of peaceful slumber. The quest for sleep continues, an
ongoing battle that intertwines with the tapestry of our lives, shaping our
waking moments and whispering secrets within the realm of dreams.
